The design & contracting process
Initiation of Design Process
The initial design process begins with a consultation where we establish the scope and extent of the project. Next, we decide the style of the project including how you want your home to look and function including colors, inspirations and wish lists. We will discuss what is an achievable timeline for the project. Finally, at this time we will discuss a budget of what we deem the project will cost and what will need to be purchased.
Establish Design Plan
Floor plans are drawn up which consists of two or three options per room and elevations (if necessary) for your review and final decisions of options are made.
Planning & Selections
Based on the layout selected planning and selections will commence. Bids will be collected from the various subcontractors. Selections of surface materials, appliances, plumbing and lighting fixtures and all other design elements will begin. Once all numbers are gathered an overall cost will be established and budget changes often occur. There will be meetings and lots of communication via email, text and phone calls. Upon receipt of payment work will be scheduled and all goods will be ordered. As the designer, I will ensure that the logistics go smoothly, ordering purchases are completed and delivery of goods is arranged.
Installation of Design Plan
Installation days are big days where you see your vision come together! Installation includes custom cabinetry set in place, followed by countertops and fixtures being installed. For furniture and accessories installation involves the unwrapping and placing of furniture, area rugs and accessories, hanging artwork and drapery. Basically, all items purchased by the designer incorporated with any items owned by you that you request us to use in the design are placed and set in your home ready for you to enjoy!
Design Completion
This is the time all the finishing touches are completed and ready for you to enjoy your home that has been created for you. Although billing takes place throughout the process that covers purchases and design fees, a final bill will be sent after installation that includes any outstanding items and fees.
